LONDON TOO

The Cambridge English Dictionary defines ‘City’ as a large town in the UK, which has a cathedral. This the common meaning of the word throughout the world and in most countries the size of the town is the deciding factor over weather it has city status. Large towns are automatically considered cities. This isperfectly logical and sensible however, this isn’t the case in the UK.

The decision to grant a town city status is one such decision. Hence, in the UK city status is not granted city status automatically just because a town becomes large or because of a cathedral. A town must be granted status by the ruling British Monarch.

But a city is much more that, London is much more than that. A city is its people, rich man, poor man, beggar man thief and its buildings both old and new.

In my photographs, I hope to show glimpse of this city I live in and love despite political, economical and social changes that it has undergone in recent years.

Like most cities it can chew you up and spit you out and can be totally unforgiving and you can die on it’s streets and some of it's people become blind to the injustices in front of them and yet, on the other hand you can find kindness in the most unusual of places.

The City is one of the most creative places in the world despite the attitude of various governments and produces some of the best in the world across the fields of advertising, photography, design, graphic, music, fine art, fashion etc, etc.

I hope you like my London. Despite everything I still do.
