    \\ Creative Rationale The old art of making lion heads is a dying trade in Singapore; so endangered there is only one master left in Singapore producing hand-made artisan lion heads. Once an integral part of every celebration and jubilation by the Chinese, lion dance is not commonly seen now. As a result, the art of lion head making is no longer in demand too. The threat of losing this intricate art is a very real one. Thus, this campaign strives to create an awareness among Singaporeans and to preserve it for future generations. Not just about preserving a traditional art, it is also about promoting local, 'made in Singapore' products. The laborious process of hand-making a lion head is manifested through a series of posters; “Weaving the bone of the Lion Head”, “Sticking the skin of the Lion Head” and “Painting the life of the Lion Head”. Marrying the modern aesthetic and traditional art, both graphics of conventional patterns painted on lion heads and illustration are used. Black represents the dying trade and lends a contemporary feel. Read Less
