This illustrated piece is part of a series of work called The Image of the Week. I was free to interpret the theme of Obsession however I saw fit as long as it conveyed the theme. For this piece, I was inspired by several Japanese influences. Namely, manga and ramen.

I would start off by researching influences that I could implement in this work. I was mainly inspired by the use of an manga art style with hints of watercolour. Capturing more of the Japanese poster style. I then started making sketches of the work in Procreate to see how I could lay it out and portray the work in a clean fashion.

Once my sketches were done, I went over to Adobe Illustrator to outline the piece itself to allow me to get clean smooth lines with the pen tool. Once that was done, I brought it back to Adobe Photoshop to colour the piece with watercolour brushes to give an organic feel to it and implemented screentones to add a bit of depth to complete it. Once that was done, I also included a Hanko stamp on the bottom. A traditional stamp used in Japan as a form of signature. I created this hanko stamp in Illustrator with "Obsession" written in Japanese. Once stamped, the work itself was complete.
