yosemic Logo Design- Making Of

The origin of yosemic’s name is the Japanese word, “yose” referring to a performance hall popular in the Edo Period similar to a vaudeville theater. One of the main types of performances done here was Rakugo, a type of traditional one-man comedy show in which a paper fan, called a sensu, was often used as a prop. I used this as the base shape for some of our logo ideas, as the concept of any type of person being able to express themselves on the stage is what we share in common with our namesake.
I had to consider both our performing and visual artists in the design, so trying to marry these themes together was a challenge.
