Language School Book Covers

As I am currently in Japan studying at a Language School, I haven't been doing much design work - so when the chance came up to design some simple book covers for the School, I jumped at it.

Each Semester, the School takes all the classes of a certain level (eg all Beginner classes, all Intermediate 1, etc) and collates the scripts and assorted other work from the semester into a book that we can all take home and keep. These are always student-designed, and these are the two that I have designed thus far.
As an extra challenge, I decided to make these using my own watercolour paintings, which is a skill I have been learning for the past few years. This first one book covers the Autumn/Winter Semester. I decided to paint some landscapes of places that are popular with the students, as well as nods to the School itself - for example, the object in the left-hand central area of the back page is a New Year's Decoration that was put up in the school after the Winter Holidays.
For my second Semester, which included a long Summer Break, I made a collage of objects that are typical of a Japanese Summer, as well as obvious references to studying. I also took the time to learn some new pieces of software - Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher - for this project, so it took some extra time.

I have found these a really nice piece of practice, both for my watercolours and keeping my knowledge of relevant programs up. Thank you for looking!
