The Best Musical Charities Making a Difference
True music lovers need not be reminded, however there are many that overlook the impact that music has had on their lives. The combination of movement, music, and rhythm have benefits that reach further than most ever imagine.

It’s been proven in numerous studies that music education can help children with social, mental, and physical development. Furthermore, teaching music and movement in early childhood education is known to help young children with language growth and social interaction. There is a reason why music is one of the most universal industries that exist today.

If music has had a significant impact on your life and you’d like to make a difference in someone else’s then consider donating to a charity that works specifically to help communities through the use of music.

Here is a short list of musical charities to consider donating to.

Music for Relief
This non-profit uses concerts, music auctions, and other music focused events to raise money for people all around the globe; specifically those that have been affected by natural disasters. Music for Relief was founded shortly after a tsunami in the Indian Ocean devastated thousands living in the area. Since they’ve been founded, the organization has raised over 10 million dollars to help people all around the world. Their outreach includes places that were hit by Hurricane Katrina and earthquakes in Japan and Haiti.

Hungry for Music
In 1992 local musicians in Washington D.C. held a benefit concert for the homeless population. Since then it’s grown into a national organization that helps children in 48 states and 20  countries. Their belief is that sharing a musical experience can help us on the path to self-discovery. By delivering over 10,000 instruments to underprivileged kids they are providing inspiration and a unique type of freedom.  This charity has done great things to help support low-income communities and give children new possibilities while showing them the art of music.

Vh1 Save the Music Foundation
This particular organization is very well known throughout the community of music non-profits. The foundation helps public schools around the country to save or restore their music programs. Government funds aren’t always enough and music programs are often the first thing hurt during budget cuts. Save the Music is helping to provide school students with the positive influence of music.

Inner City Arts
This Los Angeles organization focuses on helping at-risk elementary and middle school students. The nonprofit has a firm belief that encouraging creativity can help to change a child’s life. They’ve created after-school and weekend art programs, giving students a chance to express themselves through a one of a kind art education. Inner City Arts programs are especially helpful to children who speak limited English and has helped many students feel they have something to look forward to.
