Nakabayashi is a stationery brand that has the largest share of the album and bookbinding business in Japan. "FUERU album", its signature product, is a long-selling item and is beloved by many people.
We were honored to receive a request from that stationery manufacturer, Nakabayashi, for the production of its own brand brochures.
In regards to further expansion of sales channels in overseas markets, mainly in Europe and the United States, Nakabayashi would like to emphasize the high functionality of our products and the high quality of Japanese brands. The first thing we were aware of after receiving such a wonderful request was that "How should we show off the added value of stationery in this age?".
欧米を中心とする海外市場のさらなる販路拡大において、自社商品の高い機能性と日本ブランドの高品質をより一層強く訴求したい。そんなご相談を受けて、私たちがまず意識をしたのは「今この時代にこそ、文具が持つ付加価値をどうやってアピールするべきなのか」という点です。
Today, the role of stationery has been different from that of more than ten years ago. For example, a person who has used a notebook to take notes before is now to record on a smartphone or computer. The person who used to write the schedule in the schedule planner book may get to use the cloud calendar. In this way, the functions of stationery are getting replaced by digital devices such as personal computers and smartphones with the times. Also, in the foreign countries where Nakabayashi expects to target, there is a strong concept of “stationery is disposable consumables". Therefore, no matter how high the quality, it was necessary to take a different approach in order to have expensive Japanese stationery accepted in global markets.
A catalog that focuses only on the functionality and quality of Nakabayashi products may not be appealing enough. What we thought about at the moment was to create a world view in the catalog that pursues "How Nakabayashi stationery changes your lifestyle.
Stationeries full of functional beauty that fit the interior of the room. A beautiful album that makes organizing photos fun. A rich and vivid ink that makes you want to draw illustrations spontaneously on your notebook.
By showing "Life ahead with stationery" through photos and texts, we wanted to propose a new lifestyle to users.
We have focused on proposing "Life ahead with stationery", and in the catalog, we have unified with photographs with many margins in order to deliver “a sense of space”. In addition, product information has been kept to a minimum and summarized in a simple manner.
「文具の先にある生活」を提案することに特化し、カタログでは「空間の空気感が伝わるように」と余白の多い写真で統一。また、商品情報の記載については必要最低限にとどめ、シンプルにまとめました。
