Expansion of my character designs into 3D sculptural space, each character illustrating a different concept and sin. Exhibited in the Worth Ryder Gallery on a custom hand-welded plinth.
I had been wanting to do my own doll series and I was interested in pushing my skills into an integrated project.
I was primary interested in the process and loss of innocence from childhood to adulthood, a concept that has been pretty consistent in my work as a whole. Decay and death, renewal and rebirth, have always been ample fodder for my artistic process.

Unfortunately the lighting in the gallery did not lend itself to good photography, however the in-person effect was quite arresting. Looking in my archive I couldn't find any photos of the back, which means that the dolls of Greed and Gluttony are unfortunately not pictured here (please see their individual project pages for insight).
Instead of a traditional title card, I decided to make my own to keep in theme with the installation as a whole. The base was welded from found metal, the doorknob as well as the corresponding doorknob on the tree/plinth itself were made from the door to my childhood bedroom which had been replaced during the period. I thought the symbolic quality lent itself well to my intention to explore childhood, sin, and loss of innocence.
The golden bronze of the doorknobs was also carried through with the Kallisti Golden Apple at the base of the tree. The idea of a golden apple having fallen from a barren tree was another symbol I found very engaging.
