The Queen of the Dolomites

With an eye on the Queen of the Dolomites

Clear skies and sun are rarely my kind of things.

The walk started in the foggy morning ended in a cloudy afternoon. The impressive massif of Marmolada seems to walk along with you and the nice little lake beyond sparks every time a ray of sun hits its surface.  Walking in a stormy or cloudy, foggy day makes me experience more connection with the environment, a sort of deeper bond with nature.
For those interested, the site is great also for its historical importance ( the Italian - Austrian border was here and during the WWI was built what is called the Ice city ). Geologically speaking, the walk runs along two layers of different kind of rocks: beyond the sedimentary carbonate rock knows as dolomite for its chemical composition and above volcanic rocks.
