[Personal Project] The Division 2 : California - August 2019 to October 2019
OVERVIEW
On my free time I've made a level based on an imaginary The Division 2 DLC.

The level is based on a fake Tesla like factory in California where players have to eliminate a dangerous gang of soldiers with high tech weapons. 



I then integrate my Sketchup level into Unreal Engine 4 and I implemented AI ennemis, covers and so on in order to make a fully playable demo.
STEP 1 : INFO & DATA GATHERING 

I've started to search for references by looking at different high tech factories around the world and how they are built in terms of architecture. By gathering those information 
I then started to draw the basic layout of the map in order to have some idea of each areas and what the player will experience in terms of intensity.

STEP 4 : 3D IMPORTING IN UNREAL 4 
After the 3D modeling process of the map I've imported it in Unreal 4 in order to start putting the first collision and make it playable with the third personn controller of UE4.
STEP 5 : IMPLEMENTING COVER, AI AND INTENSITY SETUP
After the basic setuping of the Unreal Engine 4 scene I've started addind cover props with which the player can interact with by pressing the Y button. I've also implemented AI by tweaking their health, weapons and numbers per area in order to create intensity and relief moments in between fights. Ladders were also added inside the factory in order for players to be on top of ennemies and have this feeling of being smart and having more strategy in the fight itself.

I setup my level with this curve in mind :



1 : The main idea was to implement less ennemies in the first parking lot to create a stealth period where players can easily surprise the two ennemies and see their movements.

2: After that, the player goes to the showroom where he encounters two ennemies in close combat with fewer covers.

3 : After a small corridor and a relief moment to reload players get inside the factory. Covers are now moving (matinee animations) and players can see that ennemies are not only on ground but also on higher grounds.

4:  Players can use the parkour feature of The Division 2 to run on both sides of the automated line but also take the ladder. In this area players encounter more ennemies, some of them have shotguns and some of them are on top of the line. But players have more paths, and more freedom to cover.

5: In between the last section and the factory the player goes into a painting tunnel where he can breath a little. 

6: The last section is a mix of the parking lot and the factory. Players are now used to switch between paths, to get cover, reach upper buildings and covers. There are less ennemies but tougher ones (shotguns and long reach AI). Players is now used to them and more easily outsmart them.
