Designing Core Components

There were numerous approaches which we followed while working out the final cards design for forms and colleges. The intent while designing these core elements were it should showcase the most important information upfront and it should be easily adaptable.

Generating Revenue with Design

Since this is a startup, we also kept in mind that if there are any areas we can focus on in order to somehow highlight some top areas on the product and use them as the revenue generation points. Also the layout of the website’s navigation was carried out in a way that it makes use of all the available content we have for the site. While doing that we had a second approach to this promoted section where a section in the mega menu was assigned to ‘Promoted’ section.

Stream/Category Page

While designing we figured a basic stream page contains all the information about an offered stream like Engineering/Arts etc. So on a typical page for a stream the information were basically divided in 2 sections: Colleges & Forms.

Since all the listing pages which are dynamically created has the similar kind of data like in a e-commerce website’s category page, it easily becomes boring and the user tends to leave the page if he doesn’t find any helpful information. We had encountered this problem before on other products so we designed this page that after a few placeholder sections like ‘Promoted Sections’ & ‘Filtering listings through Courses’ which would make this page less boring.

College Profile Page

A college page showcases all the information about the college in details. When we were researching various websites, we found there were websites which had tonnes of information but it was not shown in the most organised way. We started off with a ‘Summary’ section of the college which highlighted the basic and most points about that college.
