Lapland, Europes Last Wilderness

Landscape Photography
Laponia, Europes Last Wilderness (Part 1)
Many of us have heard about Lapland, in reality, big parts of Lapland yet remain undiscovered, Even for us Scandinavians. I've seen many parts of Lapland over the years. Both trough trekking and by helicopter. Vast and inaccessible areas makes Lapland what it is today. Pristine, untouched and unspoiled by humans. Lapland, Home to the last areas of extensive wilderness in Europe.

In this Series i will focus on Sweden and on the dream i had since a young boy. To see the Rapa valley from above, In my opinion the most beautiful river delta on earth. If not the most beautiful place i've ever seen.
I've dreamt of seeing this valley from above for so long it almost felt unreal when I finally got to see it. It was so much more than I ever could have imagined. I wanted to time the transition to Autumn and as soon as I got the information that trees where changing colors I packed my bags and went North together with my friend Konsta Punkka to experience the transition from above.
From the helicopter we could witness the most amazing colors and river systems take form right beneath our feet. Glacial waters running wild across the valley floor surrounded with the first signs of Autumn. Something out of this world. We placed our tent on the Skierfe ridgeline and observed the valley as it changed in light and colors over the next two days. And up until this day this might just have been the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. More pictures to come, I hope you enjoyed this first series of Swedish Lapland from me.
