IKALS KALYS (2017)
IKALS KALYS is the result of a briefing presented at Graphic Design Project IV class from the undergraduate degree of Graphic Design and Multimedia Design at ESAD.cr.
The goal was to create a book that presented works from an alter ego created by ourselves that made works out of our comfort zone. That book would then be part of a collection composed by books from the entire class with the name “Coleção A”, because of that, the format, number of pages and paper of this book could not be changed.
Who is IKALS KALYS?
Born in Portugal, IKALS KALYS is a misterious character that describes themselves as “non-conventional street artist”. Influenced by Greek mythology and tales, their work is composed by digital illustrations of constelations on building walls. Their work is done as a protest against the Municipal Halls that constantly erase art from walls for deeming it vandalism, publishing it online which prevents it from being erased.
