For the latest XD Daily Challenge presented by Adobe, we were asked to design a food ordering app.  I, for one, love me some food...and I love me some logo creation.  So, before jumping completely into the app, I wanted to explore some options for my app's branding and logo.

Given that this is a food app, and I could choose anything I want in terms of food, I decided to choose delicious pizza.  Not just any pizza, though.  My restaurant's app would be a meat-only extravaganza.  

As I pondered names that could be used, I landed on "Meatza".  I want to immediately communicate to the customer that the pizza was meat-centric, and that the food available is indeed a "za".

As I began experimenting more with the shapes and the letterforms, I really liked the way the shape of a slice of pizza merged nicely with an "M" shape.  Once the shapes came together, I began to see a mountain-shape emerge, and from there, Meatza quickly turned into Meatza Mountain, a meat-centric pizza restaurant located in the mountains.  Very specific ingredients, but I'm sure they make very delicious pizza, too.  

While I continued to refine the shape of the the letterform and the slice of pizza, I also investigated a few font options before landing on Acumin Pro Condensed Semibold as the primary font for Meatza.  The thickness matched the letterform/mark quite well, and the letters are still quite legible in their condensed form.

Once a few more tweaks were made to the spacing and shapes, my new restaurant came to life.  Meatza Mountain is ready to move into its next phase of its life cycle, with some solid, unique branding that accentuates the differentiating aspects of this unusual pizza restaurant in the mountains.
