Background Research
Some people dream to live in a big city for its endless possibilities. It’s opportunities of jobs, access to rich resources and all the other benefits attract people from the outside to taste the deliciousness of an urban life. However, with the tough economy and the rising house price in cities like New York or Tokyo, people move into tiny apartments to be able to afford to live and survive.

Questionnaire
• Why do people choose to live in a small space?
• How much does it cost for a couple to live in a big city?
• What is the average home size that would be satisfied for a couple?
• What kind of ways of living has been shown in modern city?
• What are the key elements for a functional small living space?
• What is the relationship between human and space that would create a comfortable living space?
• What is the relationship between private and pubic space in urban area?
• How to utilize every space as bigger possibilities for storage?

My Insights

• People are being forced to downsize their living space
• Poor living condition of small spaces might cause physical and psychological problems
• It is expensive to renovate living space with professionals

Comparative Analysis
Sketching
I started with mind map to write down my initial assumptions and questions. Then moved on the sketching out my rough thoughts. The sketches include solution for physical, psychological, and digital ideas. I then decided to expend the idea of an application that hopefully will provide a tool for the users to try out in their small space.
Rapid Prototyping
By testing with users, I developed the prototype continually. From rough paper sketches to digital wireframe then clickable prototype, I learned from users' interaction and feedback for further iteration and improvement.
After a series of testing and prototyping, I learned what is and what's not needed in the application that can provide the best user experience. I then created the site map to sort out the user flow of all screens and functions.
