My goal was to express how prevalent mental health is within our community. Someone who is unstable can become stable, just as someone who is stable can be at risk of instability. Someone who has never been diagnosed can suddenly falter and seek treatment, while someone who has had treatment can maintain a full and balanced life. No one is exempt. This then poses the question, why does stigma and disproportionate care exist for those affected?
Anyone could suffer from mental health, therefore everyone is entitled to adequate care and support. Every living person, whether diagnosed, undiagnosed or neither, deserves a space to speak on their struggles as well as their potential. Speaking up deconstructs myths and sheds light on the truth of mental health.
