The owner of MJS Real Properties in Portland, Oregon, Hillsboro’s Michael Safley spearheads a range of successful real estate investment and development endeavors. A leader in the fields of alpaca breeding and care, Michael Safley established the Quechua Benefit Foundation to support Peruvian alpaca shepherds. He has also served as president of both the Alpaca Registry and the Alpaca Owners Association (AOA).
Comprised of owners, breeders, and other individuals with strong ties to the alpaca industry, the AOA presents what it bills as the “premiere alpaca event of the year”—the National Alpaca Show. The 2020 National Alpaca Show will take place from March 13 to March 15 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
This event will draw alpacas and alpaca owners from across the United States to participate in show ring competitions. It welcomes both Suri and Huacaya alpacas for judging in the categories of animal conformation and fleece quality.
In addition to this competition, the 2020 National Alpaca Show will feature dozens of vendor/farm displays, as well as special events such as an alpaca costume contest and a free alpaca yoga class. It will even support an alpaca photo booth that will allow show-goers to take selfies with an alpaca.
