Planned by Hadid, the new Campus de la Justicia at Valdebebas in Madrid is expected to become a focal point amongworks from Norman Foster, IM Pei and others. With a façade made ofmetallic panels, this double-ventilated envelope is a dynamic, moving componentthat will respond to the environment by opening and closing. On the roof, thesemetal panels will include integrated photovoltaic cells.
Theproposed 74,500 square meter (~800,000 square foot) building features aspiraling semi-circular atrium that overlooks an interior public courtyard. This space is meantto draw visitors and connect the building with the surrounding campus. Insidethe building, a spiralling semi-circular atrium is developed around thecourtyard where all public space evolves. The atrium overlooks the courtyard, which serves as instant reference point for visitors to move around thebuilding and extends to the lower ground floor, providing natural light toenter the court rooms at that level.
