School Illustrations
Our goal was to establish an illustrative Art Direction to our 50+ schools around the world.
These needed to work digitally, within other web components and merchandise like notebooks, bags and posters.
My approach was to focus on the most interesting section of the schools.
Rather than over complicate the character with needless details.
Moving from hand drawn lines and watercolour treatment, to sharp lines and flat colours gave a more considered feeling to the building's architecture.
Colour and texture was explored throughout the entire process.
Explored what we could remove, yet still retain the essence of the school. Adding vegetation of the surrounding area gave a lot of life to the artwork; and removing the architectural lines gave a more painterly, crafted feeling.
Final Artwork
Building rules around the established treatments of simplicity, colour and texture, I applied these to four schools varying in size and complexity to ensure this approach works for all our schools. Look out for those later this year!
