This homemade speakerdock is build from 8mm plywood and has an innerframe for the subwoofer. Subwoofer you ask? Yes! This 19inch speakerdock has 2 tweeters, 2 midrange spakers and a 6inch bandpass subwoofer integrated.

The subwoofer part was the reason I started this project. I've never seen a 'small' speakerdock with an absurd amount of bass. The calculations for the bandpass subwoofer are done by me and deliver what I expected. The rest of the sound can't really keep up, which is a shame! Still, if you reign in the woofer, you get a decent enough sound from this puppy!

The integrated amplifier(s) deliver a total of 40 watts. The design had been kept very simple to give it the appropriate look-and-feel. The design is inspired by Dieter Rams.
The picture below shows the actual size of the speaker dock. It's 43 x 22 x 17 cm (WxDxH) in size and weighs 5kg. The (small Lumia 620) mobile phone is for comparison purposes. The two top handles create a mobile design.
There are only 3 dials. The big one is main volume. The middle is treble, and the last one is bass. Simple, like it is supposed to be ... oh wait, where are the markings indicating the volume? (perhaps later ;) ) The dials are lowered in the speaker, making them less obtrusive.
The front of the speaker dock is empty and the back only contains the most essential connections. The subwoofer vent is the big hole in the middle and behind are the connectors.
From top to bottom: Power button with led (the only indicating led on the device!), the stereo input plug and at the bottom the power plug. It accepts 240V and 110V currents. You never know where you will end up!
