Client: Blizzard Entertainment Role: UX/UI Designer Platform: PC/Mac Date: August 2017
In 2017, I was asked to join the Classic Games Team at Blizzard Entertainment to work on Starcraft Remastered. I, along with another UI designer and 2 engineers, were brought onto the project a few months before launch as temporary help. We were tasked with building out a variety of screens.
Initially the team asked for my help fleshing out the Player Profile and Leaderboard screens, but after a few weeks I started reworking many of the battle.net screens. We launched world wide on August 14, 2017. Just before the game launched, I began working with the team full time. We planned out a bunch of features that were highly requested by our fans and fellow peers.
One of those features was a Ranked competitive ladder. This is nothing really new in the RTS space, but we wanted to offer players a chance to show off their skills and earn rewards while doing it. Along with that we successfully launch a shop that allows players to buy cosmetics like console skins and announcer packs.
I really enjoyed my time working on this project and am excited for what the team has planned for the fans in the future.
