About Batavica
I played a lot of games since childhood. RPG (Role-Playing Game) is my favorite genre and I did played a handful of them since the era of Playstation. As I grew up, I noticed that there are lack of representation of my country, Indonesia, in most popular games —let alone a game based on my country. It is such a shame, because I believe my country has more than enough heroic folklores and ancient fables that can be adapted into modern-fantasy role-playing games. That's when the idea to create this project sparked. 
 
BATAVICA: Legend of Garuda is an Indonesian RPG game concept I created. Due to my lack of skills in programming and game developing, all this only ended up in character sketches that later turned into 3D characters. The main idea is to adapt the characters of Indonesian folklores into a modern-day RPG concept (with inspiration mainly coming from SQUARE ENIX's FINAL FANTASY titles). 
 
These character concepts so far is only presented as a 3D illustration of the protagonist characters (possibly villains and monsters in the future). There are no games/animation related to BATAVICA: Legend of Garuda in the making. Hopefully after every characters are done, I can start figuring out whether these will really be turned into games or short films. The purpose of this game is solely as a practice medium for myself as a learning 3D modeller; and at the same time, introduce to the online community some Indonesian presence.
About Timun Mas
The first warrior to be awakened by the Garuda to save the world from apocalypse. When her hometown was raided by the troops of Buto Ijo the Giant, she ventured around the archipelago seeking clues about the prophecy and eventually figures out the only way to prevent the world chaos is to summon The Almighty Protector Garuda

As an Alchemist, Timun Mas is an all-rounded fighter. Equipped with her magical gun, Gundala; she can decimate her enemies with poisonous potions as well as supporting her team with instant-healing potions.

Her character is a derivation of an ancient folklore of Central Java of the same name, Timun Mas.
Character Development
The color scheme for her is brown, golden, and green. Her armor is in the shape of cucumber slices (and also in golden color). Her coat and leggings is adorned with Batik Sidoluhur pattern from Central Java, which symbolizes her friendly and humble attitude. 
 
My overall design of her deviates from how most Indonesian artist chose to portray her. I decided to give her a more modern-day look and feel, while still embracing the culture of Indonesia (in this case Batik) as well as her story concept (Timun means cucumber in Indonesia).
All in all, her design combines Indonesian cultural aesthetic (Batik pattern, wrap dress, golden armor often seen in Wayang puppets, earthly color schemes) mixed with modern look (body-fitted suit, ankle boots, modern arsenal). The rest of the characters also follow these guidelines. 
 
In the story, she is the nice and courageous young girl archetype; being the typical strong female leader who is always strong whenever the rest of the party is down and defeated.
