In the midst of Icelandic summer, in Kópavogur, near Smaralind shopping mall is a short 20x2,5m tunnel that's painted by me with a help from coolest art thugs Karen and Óðinn. Thanks to youth culture center Molinn, for letting me this opportunity.
The project began with the sketching. Some elements changed by scaling them on the wall, some didn't even make it there.
I let my old obsession with simple recognisable objects be influenced with suggested magic theme.
all the sketches were done with a marker on A4 thick and gliding paper. I thought it'll be super difficult to transfer on the huge scale of the tunnel walls.
there I felt a need of some characters. Russian and Lithuanian folklore served as an inspiration.
Putting the drawing on the wall took me surprisingly little time: both sides of 20m length where completed roughly in an hour, filling in the background and other colours began on the very first day of work.
Line-work is usually the most fun and I'm glad to state that it was all for me to do.
