Illusionaire TV Cabinet

ILLUSIONAIRE
TV CABINET

For Modomoro Dubai

A TV cabinet inspired by Gestalt's research on visual perception, a theory according to which perception is configured as a structured totality, a unitary whole, and not as a set of isolated elements. With this TV cabinet the goal was to evoke the optical illusions through the combination of two different type woods with different colours and characteristics.
The idea was to create a graphical stimulating object where the pattern was both decorative and functional. Finding inspiration within again Sonia Delaunay’s paintings and the op-art painter Victor Vasarely.
ENCOUNTERED CHALLENGES

The first challenge was to create the optical effect with the minimum use of signs and materials, the second challenge was to emphasise the solidity of solid wood compared to the veneer, the third challenge at some point was, how to make the handles?
The answer was a mix of all the three points, that was, to have a graphical element in worked wood which was also part of the pattern and also a handle.
Thank you very much for your time!
