I was commissioned by Zizzi Ristorante to design and produce two locally themed murals for their Dorchester restaurant. The brand new site is situated on Brewery Square - a huge recently opened development featuring a large number of restaurants, shops and cinema.
The mural I designed for the left-hand side of the restaurant features a philosophical quote from famous Dorchester born novelist and poet Thomas Hardy. The quote “Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.” is taken from his personal notebooks. Hardy’s most well-known works include The Mayor of Casterbridge (1886) and Tess of the d’Urbervilles (1891), the former being set in a town which was based on Dorchester. This is one of my most detailed murals yet, taking several days to complete.
The work was completed in acrylic using a mixture of rollers, paint pens and a lot of masking tape!
