The entry & reception is designed, not as a stereo-typical gym, but with grandeur, thus making a statement for the arrival of a new brand in fitness. 600 sq. ft. of uninterrupted area and 13 ft height not only gave a freehand to design, but also opened doors for experiments.
Along with the modern approach, the client did not want to let go his traditional roots. That is where the complete artwork of the gym is derived from. The artwork is custom made to get the feel of the traditional outdoor ‘akhada’ inside. All walls are designed to be outdoor extensions of the gym and are custom made with a 3- dimensional effect.
The ancillary facilities such as the changing rooms, locker rooms, shower areas and steam rooms had to be designed as per modern - day requirements. These areas are designed in proportion to the area of the gym hall, thus avoiding every-day practical issues of the customers. All these fine details such as convenience of using certain kind of keys and handles for lockers, provision for outdoor footwear, etc come as a result of research and discussions with the client at length.
The entire design of the gym started with the design of the ceiling. With the kind of standards and modernity that the client was getting in, in terms of facilities and equipment, the design had to stand up to it. The wave of lights on the ceiling throws life into the gym. It is designed to dictate a path and to get the dynamic vibe that a gym requires. The choice of colors is bright and throws energy into the otherwise monotonous gym space.
Two High Pressure Low Velocity (HPLV) fans that work on the phenomena of ‘perceived cooling’ have been incorporated in the design to cut down on the massive load on the AC, thus making it energy - efficient.
