Architecture for Dogs | A Capsule for Homeless Dogs

Concept drawing presented at the occasion of Architecture for Dogs Exhibition, which was held at the Japan House of São Paulo in 2019.
The proposal is a manifesto: In every city, around the world, there is a large population of abandoned dogs in need of a home: A House for a Homeless Dog. Architecture as a cozy shelter.
We decided on the conventional shape of a wooden dog house as an immediate icon recognition feature.
The cardboard tube is the capsule, is the effective shelter and protection element. It gained the angled cut to increase its protection area like a large eave on a house porch.
The high casters and supports reinforce the nomadic character: ease of transport and protect the shelter from the dampness of the floor.
Its orange color against the neutral tones of wood and cardboard act as flashy focal points.
