TOURISM THROUGH
AUGMENTED REALITY
Tourism through Augmented reality is a Classroom project which focuses on a better engagement, Quality information service and a trust-worthy guide service for tourists who are visiting the historical & Mythologically rich places. The lack of information regarding the History, cultural background and the geographical location on the places spread across India inspired me to come up with this concept.
In India, We have thousands of historical monuments but only a few of them are taken care of in terms of talking about their history and relevance. The curious tourists, who would like to know more about these places, are left with only a few options, Read on the internet (Limited information which can be easily altered by anybody), Hire a tourist guide (Hard to judge the knowledge of the person) or simply get to know about the place from the locals. But all these techniques can be really draining and time taking. What can be a simple, universal solution to a modern problem like this?
Using the modern technological advancements, I came up with an idea which is an amalgamation of Web, Augmented reality & Visuals. The solution to all the above mentioned issue has been made simple, Which is, to Make Augmented Reality based posters, Which not only depicts the story of the place but talk about other factors like, the Geographical location, Best Food options, Cultural History, etc.
The posters can be installed at all these places, And will be linked to a Government tourism based app. When the poster is scanned using these apps (Offline/Online both applicable), The Augmented Reality tabs will help you navigate through the available options, where you can select what you want to know about!
Really an advance step to tackle the problems we never thought of!
WHAT LOCATION ARE WE FOCUSING ON FOR THE INITIAL CONCEPT?
We are focusing on the Twelve Jyotirlingam in India for the concept, All the temples are spread across country and has a very rich cultural History associated with it. But still lacks the information it should hold.
