Station Geometry for Culture Station Seoul 284 Exhibition_process 2019

The old Seoul Station is not only a building with a history of over 100 years, but also an architectural landmark. The western style building, which was rare in Korea in the past, is composed of dome ceilings, various forms of columns and stairs, walls, and colorful Renaissance ornaments.

This project began with close observation of the building. The architectural elements such as columns, roofs, and stairs, were observed and recorded. We sketched objects by magnifying each element or reinterpreting the whole element as a geometrical shape.

Based on these sketches, we produced objects on our own. With various materials around such as wood, acrylic, paper and perforated plates, we expressed different textures. In addition, the exhibition was specifically organized by arranging objects in various colors in the stair of Seoul Station, the actual exhibition space.
