Type / Academic / 2019
Advisor / Jan Schindler, Elan Fessler
Location / Pohojelec, Prague 6, Czech Republic

Divergence is a site-specific project. The project involves changing the traffic flow not only for the vehicles and public transportation but also for the pedestrian. The urban context around the site is surrounded by important historical pieces, from the Strahov Monastery to the fortification. The site lies in a significantly valuable piece of land in Prague.  The path connecting the two provides a car-free, environmental friendly route towards the wall that the visitors can rest, run, ride a bike and exercise.

Divergence affects the perspective of the user visiting the space. From the separation wall between the site and the school to the slipped in entrance from the western facade, sharp cuts are made in different parts of the sites to create a slight shift in angles of each element which gives a different perspective wherever you stand.

Concept
After deriving axes from the lines, two volumes were created and is pushed up and down.
One’s private, other’s public.
One’s for dwelling, other’s for commuting.
The form of the one volume lead the public towards the park, connecting to the fortification wall.
Not only does one dwell on the site, but also provides efficient movement around the area,
as well as reflecting on the history of Prague.
