Booklet
Gísli B. Björnsson is one of the most important names in the history of graphic design in Iceland and his logos are very prominent in Icelandic society. He also founded Iceland´s graphic design department in the Iceland Academy of the Arts. I had the honour of doing an assignment of making a book of selected works from Gísli.
I chose a particular style of Gísli´s works that showed his design of grids for book covers and magazines from
a certain era. I gathered these designs together and documented them in the booklet.
Part 2
At the end of the course we constructed artwork inspired by Gísli. I decided to analyse page 14 of the magazine called “Áfangi” that Gisli designed. I did that by taking all the text out of the design and only showing the structure of the page layout. The text I placed beside the design holds my observation of the text information that the designer chose while designing the page and has nothing to do with the actual text that we usually see on a page. The final result was displayed on the floor of the gallery. The whole piece was about 250cm W x 330cm H.
