Duke Ellington and Durand Jones and the Indications
For this project we were asked to design a double sided set of fact sheets for the publication Biography. The goal of this project was to make the fact sheets easy and enjoyable to read. I chose to focus my attention on a subject that I find interesting such as music, specifically Duke Ellington, and Durand Jones and the Indications. I chose these musicians because I am intrigued by their music and because of Durand Jones’s inspiration for his new project came from Duke Ellington. I derived the band information from the Durand Jones's band website (https://durandjonesandtheindications.com/) and the Biography site (https://www.biography.com) for Duke Ellington. Images where derived from https://www.wegow.com https://nightout.com https://www.americanthinker.com (https://genius.com)
I chose the font called Futura because of its bold like features similar to the nameplate for Biography. I chose Futura Medium for the subtitles, except for the question mark, which I changed to Avenir Medium. The Futura Medium question mark does not match the subtitle as much as Avenir Medium. The body copy is Times for ease of readability and old like features because both artists are known for their classical contributions to music.
I added a vector shape to the the top and the bottom of the page to convey a stage curtain feel to the fact sheet. Different colours where used to match the pictures. For Durand Jones I chose a warm colour to match the band picture palette and for Duke Ellington I chose a cool colour to match the black and white images.
