Brick & Pollen: Case Study 01
This is Part 1 of our Brick & Pollen case study.

In early 2019, we scored the opportunity to partner with Brick & Pollen to work on their rebrand as well as to collaborate on new projects. We initially decided to evolve their visual identity into a more polished and refined version of what already existed. This was in line with their strategic decision to keep it as a marketing consultancy. ‘Anywhere Social’ was renamed to ‘Brick & Pollen’. And a beautiful abstraction of the letters ‘B’ and ‘P’ was designed as their monogramme.

The new wordmark is an interesting interplay and harmony of a chiselled sans-serif, a custom ampersand, and a classic serif. A new colour palette was derived from a variety of Colorplan and Keaycolour papers. The updated visual identity system is a juxtaposition of 2 main elements. For example:

Solid & organic
Straight lines & curves
Subject & background
Textured & flat
Light & shadow
Big & small
Photograph & pattern

All of these were accompanied by a brand new responsive website that was built from the ground up using WordPress and various custom hacks for Semplice. Their existing body of work was reworked into mockups to better showcase the agency’s capabilities.
Ultimately, Brick & Pollen decided to pivot away from being a marketing consultancy and this design direction had to be discarded. Take a look at the live website here.
