RUN-OFF TRACK DESIGN CONCEPT
And now, a new concept design project ...this time in a quite bigger "scale"!
In Motorsports more often the graphic design is seen on helmets, liveries or team's branding. Recently some racing circuits started to use the potential (not only for advertising) of the run-off track zones for decoration design. Especially now, when racetracks are using more the solution of having bigger run-off tarmac areas.
According with recent news, the amazing Autódromo Internacional do Algarve will start to have MotoGP races in 2022 (if not before). So that's a great opportunity to think in how this racetrack could look by having all it's run-off tarmac areas painted with a simple, but good looking design.
My concept ideas for it where thought according a few criteria (and also to make this concept as close as possible to a real project so it could hypothetical have a chance to get turned into reality):
- using reds (mixed with some green grass areas) as a reference to the Portuguese national colors.
- geometrical patterns inspired in some traditional southern Portuguese architectural elements.
- making a design without over "complex" curved angles for an easier run-off tarmac paint.
- and trying to avoid a design that could create "strange" visual effects for the tv coverage of the racing events.
This was something different, but a concept project that gave me lots of fun to idealize and design.
