This painting is a personal piece that I wanted to take on for its scale and subject.
I usually paint small nature pieces - canvas of 10cm x 10cm.
This big blank canvas was intimidating, but a challenge I wanted to take on.
The canvas is: acrylic paint on 55cm x 65 cm

So first things first...the right images for this painting.
I hopped onto Pinterest and Instagram, as I tend to rely on my phone for the references.

Progress shots
It looked absolutely crazy at the start with the red base - but this helped add depth to the white overlay. After the skull was done (3 days), I moved onto the horn details (4 days). Luckily at this point Stranger Things Season 3 started - so that kept me pushing through the hours of painting.

Finished piece
I tend to use (super) small brushes for details (hand for scale).
