branding for The Fabric Curator
The launch of a premium online fabric store provided me with an opportunity to design branding from the ground up. I worked with the owner, drawing out her vision for the store's look. She loves fabric and quilting, and wanted the brand to have a classic yet modern feel. Hexagons and the Napoleonic bee would feature prominently. And, if possible... pink.

"Of course!" I assured her. "Pink as a neutral. We can do this!"

I'm so pleased with the result. The beautiful fabrics take centre stage on the website, yet the branding doesn't fade away. A soft pink serves as the lead colour, while a quadruple of secondary colours do most of the heavy lifting. With two of them (dusty rose and deep dark pink) originating on the same page of the swatch deck, there's a real harmony taking place.

Completing the "classic yet modern" requirement: a transitional font, Baskerville. Right in between old style and modern fonts, available on Shopify, and—like my client's grandmother, who was a dressmaker—English. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
