Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde

Interpretation of ISTD Books Still? brief, my reponse is based on how even though digital technology is becoming more common within our daily lives, special edition books are becoming more common (Visual Editions) and allows the reader to experience a book in a new way.

I chose Robert Louis Stevenson's Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde as it would allow me to explore the conflicting persona of the main character through the use of typography and layout. The book uses the theme of opposites (black and white, good vs evil, day and night etc).
One way of showing these opposites and conflited persona through the body text was by seperating dialogue and narrative apart to show how seperatley they can be one entity but in some way are interlinked (Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde are seen to be two individuals but are connected but as it slowly becomes reality that the two are the same the narration and dialogue start to merge again.
