O Lugar I The Site:
A muralha funciona como um corte na paisagem da cidade que define o dentro e o fora desta, distinguindo assim duas realidades diversas. Desta forma, a muralha é um elemento chave para a compreensão do espaço porque é através dela que se definem os limites da cidade histórica.
The wall functions as a cut in the city landscape that defines the inside and the outside of the city, thus distinguishing two different realities. Therefore the wall is a key element for understanding the space because it is through it that the boundaries of the historic city are defined.
O Conceito I The Concept:
Sabemos que a muralha separa duas realidades diversas, mas se separasse duas realidades iguais seria bastante diferente porque a percepção do espaço mudaria e a muralha deixaria de ter a sua função primordial: dividir o centro da periferia.
We know that the wall separates two different realities, but if it separated two equal realities it would be quite different because it would change the perception of the space and the wall would no longer have its primary function: divide the center from the periphery.
A Proposta I The Proposal:
A proposta consiste em fazer com que as pessoas que percorrem o espaço da muralha compreendam esta realidade. Tal pode fazer-se colocando vários espelhos ao longo do caminho que reflectirão o espaço em frente, fazendo com que as pessoas que percorrem a muralha vejam a mesma realidade duas vezes e questionem, consequentemente, a importância da diversidade como definição e característica da cidade.
The proposal is to make people that walk by the wall space to understand this reality. This can be done by placing several mirrors along the way that will reflect the space in front of them, making people that run around the wall to see the same reality twice, and therefore making them question the importance of diversity as a defining feature of the city.
