Chloe: The Typeface Project

Chloe
An Original Typeface
This project was assigned in my Typography class. We were required to create  original typeface and compile a typeface specimen and process book (TSPB) and poster to introduce our creation. Aside from the physical requirements, the conceptual requirements were quite demanding.  Our typeface was to be created with intent, meaning there must be a purpose for our typeface.  I wanted to make a classy, youthful headline type that could be used in print to replace the overly obscene and dreadfully dull typefaces that may be used.  Upon my typefaces completion I began to compile the TSPB and decided that I wanted to introduce my typeface as one would introduce a person with a personality of their own, so I did my best to capture that in some original illustrations.
The process was extremely exciting for me as a designer. We had to develop all the characters by hand on graph paper and then trace them using Adobe Illustrator.  I learned the concept of grids in this project as well.  I gained quite a bit of experience and knowledge from this project.
these are just the sketches and plans I had for some of the characters
Exerts from my TSPB. This is the cover and the images to follow are 3 of 10 pages explaining my process
