When visiting New York last year I’ve posted 396 instastories. After receiving positive feedback on them from my friends, I’ve decided to make them more permanent than the 24hrs online stories. I took the insta photos as they were, without any editing and brought them into the physical world by creating this book. 

 

The book cover is a handmade collage from The New York Times from the period of my visit.

 

I also wrote a personal story about my relationship with the New York City, containing 396 words. Each page carries one word. The reading is rather difficult, to know the whole story at once one must turn all 396 pages. This obstacle is purposeful; it feels like the city itself - beautiful but not simple or easy to be in.  

 

The book format follows the format of the instastories. Due to almost 800 pages the book had to be hand-bound.
