Gaijin - Comic book

Gaijin

Gaijin is a Comic book telling the story of a foreigner trying to integrate in the Japanese society, while learning about various key concepts of behavior and values based on tradition and modern circumstances. It is a project about travel and arrival, finding familiarity in the unknown and befriending a foreign culture. The western character overcomes stereotypical thinking and gains new knowledge and understanding of the Japanese. Peppered with personal thoughts and anecdotes, the book gives introductory knowledge and explanations in three chapters: SPACE, MODESTY and HARMONY. Gaijin is an encouragement to face the challenge of putting oneself in the position of the foreigner, experiencing and learning about another culture from the inside and thereby being able to understand people better.

The comic comprises 120 pages; 10 editions printed with the Risograph in flourescent pink and teal.
