A project worked in collaboration with Icelandic forest farmers and the forest Hnaus II. I worked with the concept of time, but Icelandic forests are very young compared to other forests in Europe. Twig is made from the species of trees you can find on the land of Hnaus II in Flóahreppur, Iceland; Larch, Birch, Pine, Spruce and Poplar.
Veneer from these trees is rolled up until it forms a kind of manmade tree trunk. Twig is my personal vision of the forest. My treerings don’t represent age, but the time when each tree species needs to undergo thinning. The trees in the forest combine their powers to make a whole tree trunk, Twig.
