Season 16 was known as the “Frontiers and Pioneers” season, with the music focusing on female composers and composers of color who are not as well represented in the concert music arena. The band also hosted the 2018 Lesbian and Gay Band Association’s annual conference, which replaced the 4th concert for the year. The conference had its own separate branding.

This season was the first that fully used the band’s new branding system.

The fourth poster shown was created for a performance by Mighty Mo, MAFB’s jazz band, who performed as a part of the Fringe Festival in Kansas City, Missouri with singer Eboni Fondren.
