Akiba: logo and illustrations
A couple of months ago I got a fantastic opportunity to design a logo and a series of illustrations for Akiba
Akiba is a community savings platform that allows parents to invite friends and family toward investing in a high performing child savings program.

Logo design is not something I specialise in, but I loved the project and took up the challenge.
The initial idea of implementing a visual of elephants (fun fact: elephants bring up their babies all together, as a community), came from Salim Mhunzi, the man behind this wonderful startup.
Through a lot of drafts and mock-ups we were searching for a way to combine ideas of safety, family, community and savings. Happily sharing the process and the result below.
And the final choice is the following:
The second part of the commission was to create a series of illustrations and a pattern for walk-through screens of the mobile app, that would also be used on the website and online promotional materials.
I based the illustrations on the story of Akiba the elephant, who wanted to be a ballerina since childhood. With the help of the community, with time, Akiba's dream came true!

Akiba is still in development process, so please do sign up for the beta version to try and look out for the updates!

Thank you!
