The image is a collection of collaged images. The use of flying three dimensional shapes, sheep roaming field mountains and hills and a large reflective square in the centre of the piece.

This is a different version of other super studio images in which nature is the main subject. The salient point remains the unnatural reflective square at the centre of the piece. It is an eye catching image as it appears a normal landscape depiction but when looking closer the image is reflecting a futuristic impression of the planet due to technology’s takeover the purpose od the image is to create a conversation and for individuals to realise the effect of globalisation and technology in an architectural form.

Like all of super studios images the photo is made through collage and online computer programs to again reference the important issues of technologies under estimated power.

Composition –  the image of a landscape area is evenly composed with dark tones in the centre of the image and lighter images at the top and bottom of the image. the image appears almost unbalanced due to the eerie elements of natural and man made elements. The shades of dark and light grey are unevenly spaced around the image although the darker rocky objects on the horizon line of the image balance the very sparse and light left side covering the left side.

Perspective- in this image perspective is crucial to the appearance of a never ending structure, this creates the idea of the endless and allows the viewer to be over whelmed by the vast size of the structure.

Line/mark – The left side of the image has clear lines and square shapes while the right side of the image is clearly the opposite and depicts the obvious difference between the natural and unnatural.

This image displays a lake lined with mountains covered with trees and grasses above these sits a large grid structure. The structure appears to disappear into either side of the image and there is no clear view of where it starts or ends. In the reflective surface on the lake snow tipped mountains can be seen and are also distantly seen behind the grid structure.

The image was created to alert viewers of the future of architecture and the impact on nature. This may suggest a relationship between the idea of architecture becoming less architectural and a possible connection to development site areas which have begun to take over areas which have historically been farmland. This image may be created as a warning for individuals of what the result of technology or the style of architecture currently being designed may result in the future.

The never ending aspect of the structure due to the unknown aspect of where it begins and ends communicates visual ideas. The image is created though photography and computer drawn and edited.

Composition - The image is spaced evenly which has been created through the monument. there is a clear foreground, mid ground and background. The fore-ground reflects reeds at the waters edge, the mid-ground presents the lake and reflection of the above sky, building and nature and the background shows the monument and skyline. This creates a dramatic and eerie image as it appears deserted and still.

Line/Mark - like most of stuperstudio designs a clear grid pattern presents itself. the line and direction of this is crisp and defined.

Sequence - All of super studios images create a sequence, this is due to the grid pattern or reflective square surfaces which have been displayed across all of their images and show a very clear pattern. The series of images create a protest and warning to anyone who sees them of the future of the world in no particular obvious space but a warning for the whole planet.
The image depicts a grid like building appearing to take over a very desolate and dessert appealing space. The image is unusual due to the sharp contrast between the man made and natural aspects. This results in a stand out image. The use of perspective if effect in the way in which the image disappears into the distance onto a horizon line. The confrontational effect of the art work represents the continuous and endless effect of urbanisation in a futuristic perspective of the world.

The purpose of the image is to create a reaction, a conversation starter or effect on the viewer of this work. It was made to open the eyes of the viewer and all who sees the work as they are exposed to the result of the takeover of technology. The use of negative utopia is eye catching and represents the relationship between technology and nature.

Perspective is the main form of visual communication. In all of super studios work the never ending effect of the endless perspective is part of the story behind the work. Those at super studio believe that the continuous monument represented through perspective is just another way to present the total urbanisation of the planet.

The image appears as a mix of collage and computer drawn imagery. This effect once again results in the perspective of the technological take over and represents the connection of technology to nature

Further researching into the ideas behind Superstudio, I began to notice the pattern of the endless grid across the city, it had developed into a physical form and as super studio predicted, it had transformed into this artificial fabrication of the world.
Super studio, an architecture firm founded in Florence, Italy by a group of now dissolved radical young architects in 1966. Through photo collages, film and exhibitions it critiqued the modernist doctrines that had dominated 20th century design thinking.

A heavy use of perspective drawing is interpreted here and represents important aspects of superstudios iconic design. their ideas behind a disappearing point of perspective are rooted from their model perception of total urbanisation.
Created through a belief in a future of rediscovered architecture. in which architecture will regain its full power, abandoning all chaos of design and appearing as the only alternative to nature.

Perspective images are crucial and important to super studios idea of the endless, the fear and unknown associated with their images due to the apparent vast size of the structures is critical to the unique design style and creates a protest against the development and construction industry. These images were created through experimentation and depict perspective, a grid pattern and the incorporation of the living and non living as seen in the sketch of the super surface and cow
Through the use of negative utopian effect metaphors are created to broaden the discussion about architecture. Their images often are a mix of computer generated imagery, photography and collage.

Some of superstudios images incorporate the living such as animals or people into a space which seems almost unliveable or deserted. in these images where nature is the dominant feature the salient point remains the point of perspective or a depiction of the repeated reflective or white squares seen throughout all the designs.

The use of perspective is effective in the way in which the image disappears into the distance onto a horizon line. The confrontational effect of the art work represents the continuous and endless effect of urbanisation in a futuristic perspective of the world. The deep contrast between the man made and natural in superstudios images are what makes them so eye catching.

The grid is a conceptual speculation. A fundamental, artificial symbol of fabrication. A structure intended to show the true future of the planet through architecture. It represents architecture as the centre of the relationship between technology and urbanisation. The continuous monument is a form of architecture all equally emerging from a single continuous environment: it enables viewers to see a world made uniform by technology, culture and other forms of imperialism.
the use of strong symmetrical line work and geometrical form which are staples of superstudios work have now been utilised by other architects.

The purpose of the images is to create a reaction, a conversation starter, it is meant to expose the viewer to the result of the take over of technology.
Through a mix of grid, and perspective drawing I have created images which reflect the banal and eerie environment the city will become as a result of technology and the movement towards urban planning and urban sprawl.

Development sites where a loss of architecture may become more obvious are what superstudio especially struggled to understand during a period where this trend was beginning to rise in popularity. As the designs become a sequence similar elements become clear and the style of work becomes recognisably super studios all of which represent the impact of architecture on the environment and a protest against technology and the effects of globalisation.

The science fiction utopian effect created through the continuous monument and super surface designs is intended to be recognised as the disappearance of the diversity of human cultures due to endless production and globalisation which is presented in the grid formation.  Both superstudio and my own designs and plans have been created to represent the effect urban sprawl will have and is having on our protected earth. The designs are intended to be confronting and should create ideas about the dominance of architecture.

All of my designs depict the future of the city, they are crucial to not just one small part but are a warning to all areas, super studios ideas from the late 60s have slowly become a reality as their predictions about technology and non architectural architecture become clearer, as populations rise and the use of technology becomes further widespread leading to what they feared of technology controlling and taking over human’s current existence.
The final image consists of factors that I have developed in iterations above. this image involves the utterly unnatural perception of the world, as seen through super studios eyes. Perspective, science fiction utopian and the future of the city in an abstract representation is shown in this image, all important components of super studios ideas.
The design is almost entirely black and white, the use of blue in the sky and the two women, who seem to be disappearing into the enormous stretch of un natural land mass which now appears recreates the current position of earth under complete control of this new form of architecture, nature is almost non existent and its survival is in chaos. At the time super studio completed their ideas and drawings, there was hope for the recovery of nature as the man made and natural lived side by side. Now the loss of this chance has resulted in the complete transformation of earth.
