VCU Medical Center Named No. 1 Hospital in Richmond

An award-winning teacher and psychiatrist, Dr. Sridhar Yaratha focuses on outpatient adult psychiatry at Gateway Homes in Chesterfield, Virginia. Among various other honors, Dr. Sridhar Yaratha received a 2016-2017 teaching award from the Department of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center (VCU Medical Center).

The VCU Medical Center was recently named Richmond, Virginia’s best hospital by U.S. News & World Report, a distinction it has now earned nine years in a row. The clinic was also ranked the fifth-best hospital in the state. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report identified four adult specialties as high-performing. These included urology, orthopedics, nephrology, and neurology and neurosurgery. The high-performing designation is given to hospitals that fall in the top 10 percent of all clinics.

To develop the listing, U.S. News reviewed more than 4,500 medical care centers throughout the country. Through objective data such as discharge-to-home rates, it evaluated 25 medical disciplines, conditions, and procedures. At times, it also used surveys from physicians to address the treatment of difficult cases.
