Ferrari DRL Concept
Ā
With the recently introduced law in the UK and Europe that DRL (Daytime Running Lights) is to be fitted to all new vehicles I have come up with a new design for the Ferrari LED version. This concept has been adjusted to fit each of the production vehicles that Ferrari produces: 458 Italia, FF and F12 Berlinetta. This makes all new Ferrariā€™s comply with the DRL laws.
Ā
The concept has influences from the Tron Legacy vehicles such as the Light Cycle and Light Runner. With the light beams running along the edges and folds of the vehicle this allows you to recognise the shape of the car without seeing the whole vehicle. A style of line drawing but made out of light. This in the real world means that the vehicle is more visible to other drivers on the road and to pedestrians walking along the side of the road. This makes our roads safer by the additional visibly of the vehicle on the road by standing out from its surroundings.
Ā
My design keeps the smooth and elegance of a Ferrari but also hints of aggression that all model have always had, by following the edges of panels and the high points along ridges of the body. The rear lights follow contours of the body for more elegance than aggression unlike the front lights that are designed to enhance the main light clusters with aggressive styling. A design like this can be passed onto future new models and on to existing models easily and effectively, hence keeping Ferrari a head of the game with lighting and overall design.
