When Roland Emmerich's next movie, "Anonymous", started the pre-production, I was offered to join the VFX in-house unit. As VFX art director I worked since the early pre production very close with the director, the vfx supervisors and art department. An extensive research was required in order to rebuild 15th century London. We tested how far we could push ARRI Alexa and Red Camera to achieve the best results with them. This was a very interesting experience. I traveled to Sweden, England, Italy and Germany to shoot textures, projections and matte painting material. Researching and choosing the live action footage to be used for the shots and operating the camera during shootings in the studio of additional live action material was an immense experience. Taking care of the look development, art direction, texturing and matte painting on VFX shots was great challenge.
For my work as Vfx Art Director on Anonymous I been nominated 2012 at the 10th Annual VES Awards in the category "Outstanding Created Environment in a Live Action Feature Motion Picture".
