Entry for First Colony on Mars Ideas Competition KLAF 2019
Pairing Work with Nur Farah Afiqah Rosol

happy          x          earthly

Being happy on a deserted, entirely new planet is mostly important for the first human colony ever to execute their mission. Isolation, loneliness, fatigue, anxiety & claustrophobic along with no basic necessities (water, electricity, oxygen) could drive into possible mental health problem which will disrupt the preparation for the next upcoming colonies.

The concept of Heaven on Mars is primarily mimicking the earth on mars in order to address the issues on psychological problems and possibilities. Earthly environment triggers positive emotions as it will make them feel closer to home, thus also acts as a part of hedonistic sustainability.

It is scientifically proven that earth’s nucleus; the water and nature can supply happiness to human. The immeasurable sense of peace one feels around water and nature serves as an escape from loneliness, isolation and depression. They will feel more physically and mentally happy when interacting with the earth’s nucleus.

A frozen sea once existed in Elysium Planitia, as wide as the North Sea on earth. With the ample amount of icebergs trapped underneath the site, water can be extracted with technologies to cater the human colony.

By highlighting communal living around the nucleus, it is believed that it could retain their happiness throughout the mission. We reject the sense of living individually, we celebrate communal living for the sake of hedonistic sustainability.
