The Monster Project is a wonderful scheme, created and run by Katie Johnson. In a nutshell, a group of kids create an whole host of brilliant beasts, then a bunch of professional artists around the world create fan art of their creature creations.

This is my fifth year taking part and it's always a powerfully joyous experience. The original artist is Sadie, from Austin Texas and she created a wonderful 3-headed, ball-chasing monster, which I had enormous fun translating into this illustration.
